What is Open Road?

Open Road is a conceptual project I worked on when studying at Foundry. Foundry is a creative school for design students with campuses in Tasmania. The brief for the assessment stated that I was approached by Transport Tasmania to develop a logbook mobile application for learner drivers. The application also needed to be designed to collect data such as the weather conditions, distance travel and time taken.

UX and UI

This assessment was a great experience for me as I was able to focus on UX and UI design. The assessment required me to build wireframes targeted towards a specific demographic and write a design specification document for a back end developer to design the application.

App Design

Dashboard

The dashboard uses visuals and the buttons are large so it is easy to navigate the application.

Profile

The app contains a profile page where the user can enter all their details required in a regular logbook.

Logbook

The logbook page allows users to look at their recent drives along with the details of the drives.

Automated Log

This page is where users can start their drive and the application collects the external factors such as weather and traffic conditions automatically.

Progress

This page shows the overall hours the user has driven in addition to the total kilometres travelled. It also shows a progress bar for a visual representation.

Learning Goals

This page contains a list of learning goals that drivers can complete and tick when completed. This will help improve their driving skills and motivation.
