During this period of time, black and white printing was commonly used as it saved production costs.
Some logos of this time period were influenced by the Art Nouveau movement. This movement began in approximately 1890 and ended around 1910. The artistic style of the movement involved curved shapes and organic forms such as leaves and plants.
The first logo concept I designed included the Art Nouveau style with floral patterns. The second logo was black and white and I added a grain effect to it to try and replicate the lithography printing texture.
In this time period, the late modernism movement was in place. The styles of logos in this era became more simplistic however they often had a more significant story or meaning behind them.
Businesses had been designing logos so that people could easily identify them by looking at the logo, however in this era logos became more creative and more thought was put into the brand behind it.
In this time period, technology was significantly advancing at a rapid pace, hence digital design was becoming very common.
Towards the end of this era, social media advertising emerged and logos were seen everywhere making them more recognisable.
Due to this, many large businesses that had been around for quite a while were able to make simple icons that consumers instantly knew what brand they belonged to.
